Isaiah 7:10-14

Through Isaiah, God offered Ahaz a chance to ask God for a sign to show that He is real. Ahaz seems to be right in turning down the offer and by saying: “I will not test the Lord.” Ahaz knows that if God shows him a sign or confirms His power; He would then have to believe and submit his life to the Lord. Like Ahaz, we withhold things from God, or do not give Him full control over our lives, for fear of what He may do or what He may call us to do. However, God’s will cannot be stopped. Isaiah responds to Ahaz that God will still give the world a sign by sending Jesus, God’s plan will still be carried and will still happen. Even when we exhaust the patience of men, we cannot exhaust God’s patience.

Have you ever tested the Lord?

How did that feel? What was the response?

Patience is a gift from the Holy Spirit. When was the last time you felt like your patience was exhausted?

Have you ever felt like you might exhaust the patience of God?
