Volunteer Ministry Teams


Information Booth Bridge Builder

As the main source of information for those that are visiting The Orchard for the first time and for regular attenders, these people must be able to help others find their way around the building, tell them when and where events are being held and offer to help those that need
information off the computers.
Commitment time: 8:00am - 10:00am or 10:00am - noon; one Sunday every two months

Greeter Bridge Builder
This team is vital to welcoming visitors and regular attendees to The
Orchard. They are usually the first impression that our church gives, which can be a very lasting impression. A Greeter Bridge Builder stands at the entrance opening doors and welcoming folks with a warm smile and a handshake. This team is responsible for taking up the offering in a designated area of the Commons. After they receive the offering, they will return to their doors to assist folks as they leave.
Commitment time: 8:00am - 10:00am or 10:00am - noon; one month every quarter.

Baptism Host
As a Baptism Host you will meet families or individuals coming for
baptism in the Worship Space the morning of their baptism. You will help them settle their things in the back stage area and walk through the flow of the baptism service for the morning. During the service you will meet the family or individual during the offering and take them back to prepare for their baptism service. After their baptism you will help them with a towel and getting to the changing room.
A Baptism Host is important to the life of our church in that it allows the family and individual to feel comfortable in an otherwise anxious moment. It provides families space to participate in the baptism service without rush.
Commitment time: as needed

Chairback Stuffer Team
This team helps put out vital information in the chair-backs weekly. They meet whenever it is convenient for the entire team to meet; and together place the information in the chair-backs for the upcoming Sunday.
This team is vital to aiding in communication for those who attend The Orchard.
Commitment time: 1 to 2 hours; weekly; may rotate according to team members.


Commons & Cafe Clean-Up Team
The Commons Clean-Up Team is a great opportunity to serve by helping keep our new facility looking great! Opportunities include staying after either service to pick up coffee cups and trash from the chairs around The Commons.
Commitment time: up to one hour immediately following the late service, one Sunday every other month

Communion Service Team

As a Communion Host you will serve the elements during the Communion Service. (bread and juice). Communion hosts help to manage the flow of the Communion Service and help participants understand the purpose of communion. Hosts who serve communion will speak to each person served. Being a Communion Host is important to the life of our church in it directs peoples attention to what Christ has done for us through the Cross. Communion hosts play a part in one of the most important acts of worship we do together as a community of Christ-followers.
Commitment time: as needed

Events Team
This team is highly involved in helping the staff of The Orchard plan and develop meetings & conferences that we host throughout the year. The time commitment varies and is based on the conference. They are responsible for setting up and serving before, during and after every event. This team serves those who visit our facilitiy for special events held at The Orchard.
Commitment time: two of the three conferences per year

Godmother's Team
The Godmother’s Ministry represents The Orchard by delivering
casseroles to families who have just had a birth or a death in the family. Opportunities include making casseroles for those who call The Orchard home. As a part of this team, you will be able to help those who have recently had a life changing experience by providing them a meal.
Commitment time: as needed


Handyman Team
This is the “fix-up and repair” team which helps those that call The
Orchard home with minor repairs at the lowest cost possible. A great way to “show off” your abilities to work with tools and a chance to share ideas with others. Without this team, we would not be able to help those who need assistance with mowing yards, minor repairs, painting, etc.
Commitment time: as needed

Hospitality
Team
Do you enjoy being a host, serving others and entertaining in your own home? Then this might be the team for you! This opportunity allows you to provide a welcoming environment - where those who are attending The Orchard feel at home - by offering a cup of coffee or juice and a donut. Areas of opportunity include one of the following: pick up doughnuts; prepare juices, coffee & tea; host a coffee station by welcoming those that stop for coffee and a doughnut and keep the station stocked; clean up kitchen after church service.
Commitment time: 7:30 am - 9:50am or 9:30am - 12:15pm; one month every quarter

Hospital Team
This is a great area of service for those who have the gift of mercy and encouragement. Opportunities include visiting patients and families of those who are in the hospital.
Commitment time: as needed


Landscaping Team
This team is vital to the appearance and maintenance of The Orchard campus. The opportunities of this team varies according the seasons, but include planting and grooming plants, keeping grounds edged and cut, and general maintenance and cleaning of sidewalks and parking lots.
Commitment time: as needed

Media Team
The Media Team is essential to The Orchard’s worship ministry. Members of this team are committed to serving in lighting design, running cameras, and providing graphics for worship.
Commitment time: both services, every third Sunday and every third Wednesday (rehearsal).

Office Volunteer Team
The Office Volunteer Team assists Orchard staff during the week with
administrative duties (filing, mailings, making copies, answering the phone and making calls for staff) and assists anyone who comes through the Administration doors - all with a cheerful attitude.
Commitment time: Anytime between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
May designate 2 or more hours just one day a week.

Parking Team
As a first impression of The Orchard, the Parking Team is designed to
create an environment that is safe for all attenders and is welcoming of newcomers.
Commitment time: 8:00am - 9:00am or 10:00am - 11:00am; one Sunday every other month

Prayer Team
This ministry is committed to pray for the church, the community, and the world. To participate, you need to make two commitments. (1) Pray with the team on the second Monday of every month from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. (2) Commit to pray before each worship service one Sunday a month.
Commitment time: Quarterly


Section Host
As a Section Host you will meet and greet people before and after
worship
in a specific section of the worship environment. Hosts make it a point to speak to every person in their section and develop conversations with individuals. From time to time there will be celebrations
during worship in which hosts will “Lead” their section. Section Hosts have fun and “pump up” the worship experience for people in their section! Being a Section Host will help build community between people and welcome first time guests in a non-threatening, open-arms way. Hosts bring another level of communication and closeness to our
community.
Commitment time: as needed


Stage/Prop Design Team

This team is for those creative minds and talented artists who would enjoy helping in designing and building stage sets for worship series, and special Orchard events.
Commitment time: as needed

Video Editing Team
This team is for people of all ages who would like to learn to edit video in “iMovie”, and who then would help edit and produce baptism videos for Sunday morning worship.
Commitment time: as needed


Volunteer Assistant Team

This team is great for those that have time to help get information out to the volunteer teams. This team needs individuals who are familiar with computer databases and general office equipment. This team will assist the Branching Out Minister with clerical needs.
Commitment time: as needed



CHILDRENS MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS

The Sprout Patch (birth thru 5 years)
The Sprout Patch is the Orchard’s ministry to children from birth to age 5 (not yet in kindergarten). The mission of this ministry is to teach and to create an environment where preschoolers are learning the 3 basic truths of The Sprout Patch: God MADE me, God LOVES me and Jesus wants to be my FRIEND forever.

Nursery Volunteer
When we care for infants and small children (birth to age 2) in a safe, secure and loving environment, their parents are able to enjoy worship services. These volunteers assist the nursery staff with overall needs within the classroom.
Commitment time: One Sunday per quarter, 10:15am until all children are picked up by parent(s).

Sprout Patch Teacher
When we teach children basic Biblical truths, we are assisting them in building a foundation for their faith. This is an opportunity to teach & oversee the overall needs of the children within a classroom. Classrooms are divided by age categories.
Commitment time: 3 consecutive months during a year; Sundays from 10:15am until all children are picked up by parent(s).

Sprout Patch Helper
When we provide a safe, secure and loving environment, children are able to learn basic Biblical truths. These volunteers assist the teacher with the overall needs of the children within a classroom.
Commitment time: 3 consecutive months during a year; Sundays from 10:15am until all children are picked up by parent(s).

Sprout Patch Greeter

Greeters provide a friendly atmosphere and help alleviate anxiety for new families. This is an opportunity to greet and give directions to
children and parents as they arrive on the Sprout Patch wing. Greeters also assist parents with the computerized check-in system.
Commitment time: 3 to 4 months per year Sunday from 10:00am to 10:45am


Grow Zone / E3 Ministry Opportunities
(Kindergarten thru 5th grade)
GrowZone ane E3 are the ministry environments for children in kindergarten thru 5th grade. The mission of this environment is to help children become more like Christ by growing in Wisdom, Faith, and Friendship! For more information contact: justin@theorchard.net

Registration Check-In Team
As a part of the registration and check in team, you help us provide a safe and secure environment while collecting information that will help us more effectively communicate with families.
Commitment: Flexible (weekly or bi-weekly), 45 minutes (Arrive 30 minutes before service of choice.)
Weekly Need: 6-8 volunteers to serve at 8:30am, 10:30am, and 6pm

Greeting Team
As a part of the greeting team, you will help us welcome and assist families in finding their child’s small group room and answering any questions a family may have. Your bright smile and personal attention leave a lasting impression on the children and parents that enter our doors.
Commitment: Serve quarterly terms at either the 8:30am, 10:30am, or 6pm service (Arrive 20 minutes prior to designated service.)
Weekly Need: 4 people for 8:30am, 4 people for 10:30am, and 2 people for 6pm service


Hallway Helper

As a part of this support team, you allow our small group leaders to connect with kids by keeping the hallways safe during transition times from small group to large group, helping with restroom runs, contacting parents if there is a need, and doing some administrative tasks.
Time Commitment: Serve Monthly or Bi-weekly. (Arrive 15 minutes before your designated service and stay until parents arrive after the service.)
Weekly Need: 2 people for 8:30am, 3 people for 10:30am, and 1 person for 6pm service

Special Needs Team

As a part of this team, you serve as a buddy to a child with special needs (mental, physical, or learning disabilities) in one of our three children’s ministry areas (Sprout Patch, Growzone, and E3). Your responsibility is to assist these children in the regular small group setting and show them the love of Christ while allowing their parents to worship.
Time Commitment: Serve every other month during designated service (Arrive 15 minutes before service and stay until child has been picked up by parent.)
Weekly Need: 2 people for 8:30am, 4 people for 10:30am and 6pm service


Large Group Communicator

As a large group communicator, you creatively communicate the Bible story and bottom line during large group time. A script and 1-on-1 training is provided for each large group communicator. Communicators only teach for 12 minutes on the Sunday that they serve! If you love telling engaging stories and have a fun upfront personality, this is your fit! Communicators will be filmed so teaching can be used at the 8:30am and 6:00pm service.
Time Commitment: Once a month for 30 minutes during your designated service, personal prep time, brainstorm/idea session prior to teaching with children’s director, and 1 hour in the studio the week before you serve.
Weekly Need: 1 communicator for Growzone (Kindergarten-2nd grades) at 10:30am and 1 communicator for E3:Elements (3rd-5th grades) at 10:30am


GrowZone/E3:Elements Small Group Leader

As a small group leader, your job is to connect relationally with kids and help them see how God’s Word applies and fits into their lives through facilitating conversation, playing games, and doing other activities. A 3-5 page lesson is provided for you each week and training is provided for all leaders. Supplies are provided- you just show up
prepared and love on your kids! It really is easier than you think!
Commitment: 30-45 minutes of prep time each week and approx. 1 hr and 15 minutes each Sunday. Serve weekly during either the school year or Summer during the service of your choice.
Weekly Need: 14 for Growzone (Kindergarten-2nd grades) and 14 for E3:Elements (3rd-5th grades)


Small Group Leader Apprentice

As a small group leader apprentice, you are a small group leader in training. Serve alongside a seasoned leader and learn the skills needed to connect with kids relationally and how to create a great learning environment.
Commitment: weekly during service of your choice
Weekly Need: 5 for Growzone (Kindergarten-2nd grades) and 5 for E3:Elements (3rd-5th grades)


Small Group Leader Substitute
As a small group leader substitute, you assist when the regular small group leader is unavailable. You help connect kids relationally and show them how God’s word fits into their lives. A 3-5 page lesson along with supplies and training is provided.
Commitment: 30-45 minutes of prep time and approx. 1 hr and 15 minutes on the Sunday that you serve.

Children’s Worship Leader

As a worship leader in Growzone or E3: Elements, you help connect kids with God through song and lead worship during large group time. If you are full of energy, confident, and can carry a tune…we have a spot for you!
Commitment: 1 hour of prep time per week &15-30 minutes during the service of your choice
Weekly Need: 1 Worship leader for 8:30am, 2-3 Worship leaders for 10:30am, and 1 Worship leader for 6pm service. (serve with either K-2 or 3-5)


Children’s Supply Team
As a part of this support team, your organizational skills will help us be better stewards of our resources! Help us organize weekly supply boxes, keep supply areas tidy, and shop for needed items!
Commitment: 2 hours a week (serve weekly for a quarter)

Children’s Creative Team
You will help us design creative wall displays and large group teaching tools to enhance the Sunday morning experience. As a part of this team, you help us engage hearts and minds by crafting a creative environment families!
Commitment: Monthly creative team meeting + execution time needed for projects

Children’s Event Team
As a part of this team, you will help us create awesome shared
experiences for kids and families
. You will help us connect with kids and families through small group events for kids, large scale outreach events, and fun family outings by assisting with overall design, coordinating volunteers, and executing action plans.
Commitment: as needed (Fall Fest, Easter Egg Hunt, Family VBS, Kidlife Small Group Events,
E3:Elements Spring/Fall Retreat, and other events)




Ri-Zoo Team (Actors, Singers, Technical Crew)
Be a part of the Production Team...Weekly commitment includes about 5 hours of service in rehearsal, production prep and weekly program/performance.
Commitment time: First Sunday of the Month August-May, 8:00am - 10:30am & rehearsal time.

JR. HIGH STUDENT MINISTRY

UpRising (6th thru 8th grade)

UpRising Small Group Co-Leader

We believe that real change happens in small groups, especially for Jr. High Students. Sit in and help lead a discussion about the night’s topic. Most of our small groups have more than one leader, and all of the questions are provided for you. This might be a great place for you to get to know our students better and help impact their world. Come be a part of creating an environment where junior high students don’t have to pretend.
Commitment time: Every Wednesday night from 6:00pm – 8:00pm

UpRising Adult Greeter

We will never know the power that a warm smile, a handshake and a friendly conversation can have in the life of a Junior High Student. This opportunity allows for just that. Simply show up and help make our Junior High worship experience a place where kids feel connected and loved. By showing up and greeting, you help make our junior high worship experience a plade where kids feel connected and loved.
Commitment time: Every Wednesday night from 6:00pm – 8:00pm

UpRising Creativity Team

We work hard to create an unforgettable environment for our Students on Wednesday nights. Do you act? Paint? Play? Do you have ideas for games or videos? Help us make Wednesday nights unforgettable by offering your own creativity, and inspiring students to think
creatively, as well.

Commitment time: 3 alternate nights per month


UpRising Video/Media

We are looking for people who have a knack for creating and editing videos to use as part of our Wednesday night meetings. If you like to take video or pictures, and think you might be interested in working with students, this might be the place for you. Come and contribute to a visual expression of what truth looks like through creative and meaningful elements.
Commitment time: As needed


SENIOR HIGH STUDENT MINISTRIES

C27 (9th thru 12th grade)

C27 Small Group Co-Leader

We will begin High School small groups again in the fall. We are looking for 2 leaders for each of our 8 groups, with hopes of multiplying them over the course of the year. We make it simple. Small groups are on Sunday nights and simply lead discussion after our worship service based on the experience they just shared. We provide the questions - you provide the leadership in order to connect the student with a small group at a pivotal point in their life.
Commitment: Every Sunday night for 10 months

C27 Adult Greeter

We need 3 greeters per night. These folks are a parent and student’s first impression of our ministry. We want to make sure questions get answered and people feel comfortable here; but also through your contribution, we hope to offer students their first connection and offer them complete comfort.
Commitment time: 2 Sunday nights a month for 10 months

C27 Art Team

Are you creative? Do you need an outlet? We have a bunch of creative kids and we love to use their giftedness to help create environments. We are looking for a group of adults who, along with students, would vision, dream and then put into action an artistic experience.
Commitment time: Once per month


C27 Video Editing
Shoot. Edit. Play. That’s what we need. We would love to find some folks who are willing to LEARN and then USE their knowledge. Be a part of espressing truth through this creative element of our worship.
Training is required, but we’ll work with you on scheduling that.
Commitment time: Once per month
